Happy Independent Bookstore Day
I love an occasion to buy a book. Am I in particular need for a book? Most definitely not. But will I buy another one at the slightest provocation? You know it.
The Japanese call this tsundoku: buying books and letting them pile up, often unread, in one’s home. I love this highly specific word and a culture that would develop such a word in the first place.
Today was Independent Bookstore Day. Before we made our way to a movie, we stopped at Skylark Bookshop to show our support.

Courtney was drawn to this book on Yellowstone wolves, and I opted for a paperback version of a book I’d been eyeing for a while — one about a MFA program for stand-up comedy. Shoot this directly into my veins.
